Extending the bad ending (Aerohou Project 5's 2nd ending)

IGNORE THIS POST IF HAVEN'T PLAYED AEROHOU PROJECT 5, OTHERWISE YOU ARE SUBJECT TO SEEING SPOILERS! OTHERWISE YOU'RE GOOD!!!

So Frank, Trevor, and Sakuya is dead (Reimu and Yukari escape, barely alive. This wasn't made clear in the ending text itself). The Cohenists, though severely crippled, went on to take over Gensokyo and rapidly industrialize the land. The Great Hakurei Barrier is destroyed. So the Cohenists went on to seize Japan.

The Cohenists spread across Asia and the Pacific. South California is the first American capture by the Cohenists. Increasing in speed, the Cohenists took over the world. The Resistance bravely fought on. This war went on to stagnate for 5000 years, destroying civiization and almost wiping out all of humanity, the war ended by default. The Cohenist's main downfall was Dr. Cohen's death nearly 4000 years into the war. Shinto, youkai, and AeroSoft had been completely wiped out sooner later. Rendering the Cohenist Order pointless. The Resistance failed because of the world's sorry state.

The world healed itself years later. The war becoming a forgotten memory. While the ruins of this terrible catastrophe remained, no one knew what they once were. Youkai no longer existed and Gensokyo's being was long extinct. The human populace went from 8-9 billion to 1.8-2 million people. Everyone went back to tribes and kings. Starting over back from the beginning, this time with the ancient technology laying around, overgrown and forlorn, in the landscape.

But, technically youkai still existed and one Topham brother remained. In the early years of war. The residence of Eientei and several other Gensokyoians built a spaceship. To find a place safe from the Cohenist threat. As they floated in the safety of outer space. Things only got worse. 4 years into the mission, the Cohenists began a space program and almost a decade in, the transmission was permanently cut off. Thus a new mission began, to boldly go where no moon rabbit has gone before.

Until one day, they found an inhabited planetary system. As well as an unwelcome guest. What will become of Eientei blokes and Victor. What will happen to them...

RevieWednesday: Sonic CD (Sega CD 1993/PC 2011)

So the plot of Sonic CD is that there's planet that goes around Mobius occasionally and Dr. Robotnik decides to take it over for its time displacement properties. Then Sonic comes then there's an expy of future Sonic fans, Amy Rose who gets captured by Metal Sonic. So yeah, Sonic beats Robotnik's butt and goes time traveling to some kick ass CD quality music (assuming you have the Japanese/European soundtrack, the American one is kinda crap, just like our economy!).

POSITIVES:
The Non-American soundtrack is awesome sounding. The special stages show what the Sega CD can do with scaling and a mode-7 esque thingy. Its graphically nice, Sonic is the same from Sonic 1 and I really like some of the enemy's designs.

NEGATIVES:
The American soundtrack sounds like utter balls and there's only two songs that are ever decent. Almost all the levels past Collision Chaos are so maze like, they are better suited for a Metroid game than anything else. Despite the game's use of saves, it doesn't save your lives. Meaning the game hopes you can make through Metallic Madness with only THREE LIVES! Assuming that you are trying to get the good future, more like good luck! At least the game gives you a suicide button (Start + A) so you start over, hoping you have the excess lives for the means to do so! I can't get the good ending without some use of a map.

VERDICT: 3.6 out of 5 Stars
"Get the PC remake, it has the better soundtrack, the Sonic 2 spindash (as opposed to the spin charge). And you don't have to go anywhere to find the maps online! Just press the start key to lower it and head onto your browser or just use the Steam guide if you bought it on Steam! The original version is a challenge, I'll tell you that!"

Touhou Tuesday: Yuyuko Weighs In!

I'm beginning to burn out for Touhou Tuesday content. So here's a story about how I spent $300 on food and never got able to eat it.

So I went food shopping. The cookie section was never the same since weed got legalized. Always empty, the stoners line up at loading bay for their mallomars. But that's not important. What's important is the fact that I forgot that Saigyouji was coming over. (Youmu was out filing for a 34th mortgage so she can fed Yuyuko), so I loaded up my pantries and the fridge and subsequent freezer. Only to fall asleep and wake up to Yuyuko leaving. Before she ultimately left. She brought up the fact that I just run out of food. I rushed to my kitchen, only to find the fridge open. Pantry doors ripped off their hinges. The freezer as empty, including the ice that grows around it. The microwave was beeping out that song that people play when somebody dies. Even some of the slightly expired stuff was gone! Empty cans, boxes, and bottles lay astray upon the floor.

Of course I might be exaggerating. But she did raid it though.

Aerohou Project 5 TV Tropes!

So this is a blog post dedicated to finding all the tropes in Aerohou Project 5: Nationalistic Seizure of Eastern Fantasy! So here we go!

  • Downer Ending: 3 of the 4 ingame endings involve a war of some kind, as those three are bad endings. The second ending (being defeated by Dr. Cohen) can be interpreted as Chen's suicide note.
  • Karmic Death: Brolli Diamondback's robot suit puts him in a similar situation of the purple guy in the end of FNAF 3.
  • Space Compression: Gensokyo and Former Hell maps.
  • The Battle Didn't Count: The final boss with a revived Dr. Cohen (Mecha Cohen).
  • Big Bad: Dr. Cohen, Col. Brolli Diamondback General Theo "Bull" Conner III, and Commander Zoey Quinn.
  • Boss Room: Brolli and Dr. Cohen's respective lairs.
  • What the Hell Hero?: Trevor's character pretty much sums this trope up, cause he's a racist.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Dr. Cohen.
  • Multiple Endings: Too bad 75% of them are bad endings.
  • Plot Coupon: Those RF discrepancies.
  • Secret Character: Larice from Cognitive Dissonance, complete with PSI attacks!
  • As Lethal as it Needs to Be: The Cohenist Camp showers.
  • Super Fic: This the fifth in a series of written stories, the fourth is currently tentative.
  • Crack Fic
  • Series Fic
  • Self-Insert Fic: This is turned up to eleven due to the inclusion of developer's brother, former school friend, and his school's director. The latter being flanderized for being the role of the villain.
  • War Fic: Taking in account the three bad endings. One of which to the point of breaking Chen..
  • Breaking the Cutie: Chen in the second bad ending.
  • Doujin Soft
  • Game Within a Game: Michael Jackson's Moonwalker in RPG form, as a minigame. Up to Eleven with the original Genesis soundtrack.
  • Freeware Games
  • Boss Corridor
  • Dug too Deep
  • Lethal Lava Land: Former Hell
  • Levels Take Flight
  • The Lost Woods: Forest of Magic.
  • Minigame Zone: The OGMS.
  • One Time Dungeon: Boston, Boston Sewers, and the Prudential Building.
  • Ship Level: Never made it into the final game.
  • Overworld: Gensokyo and by extension, Former Hell.
  • Ice Palace: Cirno and Letty Whiterock built this out of their boredom.
  • Space World: The Cohenist Satellite.
  • Kill Sat: The Cohenist Satellite is equipped with a Medium Orbit Ion Cannon.
  • Miko: Reimu Hakurei.
  • Youkai: The game takes place in the Touhou Project universe. So this is kinda mandatory.
  • Player Headquarters: AeroSoft of Gensokyo.
  • Skeleton Key: The various key cards.
  • Standard RPG Items: Fun Fact: The default RPG Maker VX Ace items are left alone to shorten development time, which in turn help keep the game being made before getting bored of the project.
  • Pick on Someone Your Own Size: The main protagonist is in his early 30's. The villain, his 80's/90's. (His unintended mechanical additions ensure him having an elongated lifespan).
  • Storming the Castle: This is accomplished by crashing an old hydrogen airship piloted by a has-been Jihadist into a large stone tower. Stranding the party members inside the Cohenist Base's walls. Only then you can enter the main building.
  • Man Versus Machine: The iPanzer bosses.
  • Mooks: Femimacht and the Junior Bazooka as well as their recolor variants.
  • The Empire: Cohenist Order.
  • The Gunslinger: Trevor.
  • Another Side, Another Story: Fujiwara no Mokou's lost laserdisc.
  • Com Mon: Small Fairy

I'll add more tropes when I feel like. If you want more tropes or wonder what a trope is, click this link: http://tvtropes.org/

Yes, I had to change the battle system back, because cozziekin can't be bothered to fix ANYTHING!!!!

About the Earthbound-ish Battle Engine by Cozziekins (RANT TIME)

I've been using this battle engine in Aerohou Project 5. But this engine has stability issues. Exhibit A: Whenever you do a magic attack that just inflicts status effects, you run the risk of having the damn game freeze (with the music playing just fine). Exhibit B: The game can freeze just from having too many enemies on the screen, kill any one of them (or they kill one of the party members). Exhibit C: The battle can freeze if you hit an enemy that's different from the one selected by default by the targeting system.

So yeah, I'll have to revise how battles look just because Cozziekins can't update what is essentially a broken piece of utter crap. If anyone can make/direct me to a decent Earthbound RPG Maker VX Ace battle script. Please list it in the comments.

Otherwise, I'll have to stick with the default battle system, which may run the risk of boring people with its Default-ness. Thanks for inadvertently delaying my game's development progress, Cozziekins. Thank you VERY much!

Or just fix the glaring issues in your bloody script!
